Update

Hello! I hope you're enjoying a beautiful spring day. Here in central Iowa it's rather hot today; I believe we've reached the 90's. It's early for those kinds of temps, but our weather has been anything but normal this spring!

 

I have not been a very serious blogger at all lately. Probably for several reasons, but mainly the disinterest in feeling obligated to maintain an online journal and share my rather boring life with whomever stumbles across my blog.  I figure if I don't have anything exciting and fun to share, why bore others?

 

I do have a fairly recent shopping trip to share with you. My cousin and I met for lunch a few weeks ago and then did a little shopping. I enjoy going into Pottery Barn and checking out their sale things. Most of the time I don't find anything I can use, but this time I did. I bought a set of four placemats and a lantern. I really like the lantern!

 

This summer I hope to make some little day trips around the midwest. Omaha is one on my list as that's the closest city with a Home Goods. I have never been and would like to go there just once.

Scarf Organization

If you're like me, you've seen many good ideas in blogland or on Pinterest for organizing scarves. There were a few I thought were actually cool and I had planned on using to keep all my scarves in one place. But then I decided to use what I already have in my basement (which amounts to 30+ years of junk valued belongings).  And this is what I came up with...

This works for me and the rusticness of the wooden ladder adds to the industrial/eclectic look of my home.

Groopdealz

I discovered Groopdealz quite some time ago, but made a conscious effort to stay away from the daily deals (it's step 4 in the 12-step program for us recovering shopoholics. lol )  However, I have allowed myself to indulge in a few "dealz" recently. They were pretty good deals and this shopper is all about deals.

Here is one of my most recent buys. I thought it was cute. I haven't quite decided yet where I'll hang it, but I'll think of something.

Thrifty Finds

Who doesn't love a deal? I recently picked up a few things while shopping. Nothing I needed, of course. But they were too cute to pass up. Forgive the poor quality of pictures. I have a good camera; it's user inexperience that causes the not-so-sharp photos.

I found this little cake dome at Target. I paid approx. $2.98  for it.

 

 



The little silver cups were too cute to pass up. I love silver.



And I can always use a little birdie for spring decor.

The Last of Christmas 2012

Oh, Christmas Tree!

It's a small one which sits upon a vintage chest in our living area. It looks cute in front of the windows.

Christmas at the Durant House

It's a little snowy at the Durant House. Please be careful on the ice as you walk to the front door!

 

 

 

 

It's obvious that I didn't put a lot of work into decorating my front stoop. Maybe next year I'll feel a little more creative.

 

 

 

 

 

We had company last Saturday; most of my husband's siblings and their spouses dropped by. It was a party I co-hosted with my husband's brother and his wife who happen to live in the same city as we do.  We hosted the appetizer portion of the party; the sit-down meal was at brother and sister-in-law's.

My Christmas appetizer wreath, which is a different spin on the tried and true veggie pizza. It was a hit!
